Do you live with guilt or shame from unhealthy patterns or disordered behaviors with food? Do you try to control your food intake only to end up frustrated and like you have failed at life? I hate what this cycle does to so many of us women.
In Episode 91 of the podcast, I get vulnerable and share the good stuff! I talk about my faith & how I struggled to believe God even cared about me at my worst with anorexia. But the most epic message of today's show is the topic of total surrender.
Sis, in order to find complete freedom from disordered eating, you must trust in something other than yourself to get through it. In order to find complete freedom, you must let go and surrender your plans, for plans that are far greater than what you can even imagine for your life.
You see, the first step to recovery....begins with surrender.
Surrender your power and false sense of control, so that HE can create something NEW in you. True change comes from true identity. You were created for MORE.
Trust the one who created you. You weren't born to be the best at being sick.

Happy Monday sister!
I'm dropping in today girl to remind you that you are worthy of all the things & so very enough. The weekends can have a mind of their own & then we are thrown right back into the week full of mixed feelings, emotions & running on fumes. This time of year where there is hustle & busyness, it's so important to pause & to be present. There is so much power in the pause, ESPECIALLY when you struggle with disordered eating.
That is why on the podcast today I'm talking about intentional thinking. It's important to take some time to THINK & be intentional with where our mind goes.

I wanted to come at you first thing this morning! Because, today on the podcast I am talking all about MEAL PLANNING!
& no, not the fad diet, restrictive type of meal plans you may be thinking of...
simply speaking, meal planning is deciding your meals in advance.
& if you have been in decades of disordered eating, you may not even know where to start when it comes to eating normally. But I got ya girl!
Meal planning in recovery can help establish an essential framework that is going to ensure you set a standard to get adequate nutrition.
& while meal plans can be so very helpful, they can also have some potential cons as well. That is why in today's show I'm coming at you with both angles to ensure that you do what is BEST for YOU, because your recovery is yours alone. It's you versus you friend!

Happy Monday!
How is your fall going sis? I am in baseball mom mode over here. Yep, we have spent nearly every weekend at tournaments, carting the kids around from one game to the next.
I never thought I'd actually feel proud wearing bright orange, as it's not really "my color"....(lol, Go Canes!), but it sure has been fun spectating, screaming & living life in the present moment.
This past weekend when I sat down to record today's episode of the show, I was reminded of all the years that being outside of my normal weekend routine would have completely thrown me for a loop. I remembered how "tied" & "chained" I felt. I remembered how I wasn't able to enjoy the moments because I was consumed with thoughts about food. Thoughts like, "when can I eat next? what am I allowed to have? haven't I already had too much today? I guess I'll save my calories for later", & God forbid I went to a sporting event....I would have ordered a diet coke, secretly wanting a bite of anything other than my chewing gum, yet never allowing myself one. I probably would have spent majority of the game wondering how other people around me could even take one bite of their hotdog.
I lived paralyzed by shame, guilt and fear. Maybe you can relate.
What I came to find out, was that the only way I was ever going to escape my mind, was to realize it had been hijacked. I had to realize that I was not my anorexia. I didn't cause it. I couldn't control it. I couldn't cure it.
BUT....I could no longer contribute to the patterns and the behaviors that were keeping me chained to it.
In order to do just that.....I had to separate myself FROM my ED.
In Episode 88, I share with you the importance of separating yourself from your eating disorder. I ask you questions for you to challenge yourself with this week. Yep, you won't want to miss this one girl!

And remember...YOU my sweet friend may have a disordered relationship with food, but you are NOT disordered. You are not broken!
You are healing. You are a warrior.

Happy Thursday friend,
I am so excited to share with you today's episode on the Her Best Self Podcast.
My biggest challenge in my struggle to find worthiness outside of what the scale made me feel was the fact that I was terrified to get better. I was scared to death to gain weight. I wanted to escape the control that food had over my life. I wanted to stop counting calories and caring about what everyone around me thought about me. I was scared to face the unknown and to fail.
In today's show, I talk about the #1 strategy I used to heal my relationship with food and ultimately to recover from my eating disorder. You don't want to miss this one!
This strategy seems so simple....yet so very hard at the same time.
It's one thing to want to change, but wanting isn't enough sis!
You have to DO something about it.
It's your turn to DO something about it!
