In today's episode I share the juicy topic of RELATIONSHIPS! With Valentine's day this week, I wanted to take the time to share with you 4 ways your relationship with food & your body affects your relationships + 3 steps to a loving future.
I fully believe that the relationship you have with food & your body is a direct reflection to life itself & is tied directly to the quality of the relationships you have with others.
If you find yourself constantly insolating, avoiding, arguing or feeling overwhelmed by those closest to you, then maybe just maybe you don't even realize the impact that your disordered eating has on those in your circle.
I'll share my past break up & the impact my anorexia had on my college relationship, plus the things I learned in the process of my recovery journey that helped guide my future & my marriage.

Happy Episode 20! I am pinching myself that I've already helped THOUSANDS of women across the planet with the Her Best Self podcast! It's only been a few short months ladies! It's been such an honor & privilege to hear from so many of you about how this show & coaching with me has truly impacted your life.
In today's episode, I'm tackling head on the feeling so many of you face when it comes to unhealthy food behaviors. The feeling of not being "sick enough" to seek out support.
In the month of love, it's important that you begin to unpack how you can better LOVE YOU! In doing so, maybe that means to accept right where you are! Maybe, that is embracing the fact that you don't feel like you have an eating disorder or unhealthy food relationship because you wouldn't classify yourself as "thin" or "sick enough". This lie is just another one that your mind is trying to get you to believe to stay trapped in negative thoughts & patterns leaving you stuck, alone & miserable.
& while, I won't be diagnosing you on today's episode (because that certainly isn't my place), I will speak truth & FACTS to you!

It's MY BIRTHDAY!!!
Well, my birthday was January 20th lol, but it's my birthday month!
Who else loves birthday MONTHS? HAHA.
I didn't always enjoy celebrating myself. In fact, birthdays with an unhealthy food & body relationship controlling your life can be down right disastrous. They can be hard. I remember a many where I restricted food, avoided celebrations, and passed cake out to others only to avoid having a piece myself. In that hard season, I remember wanting so much peace.....wanting so much freedom. Yet, I was stuck.
As I turn 37 this year, I realize...it's be 15 YEARS since I stopped letting food & my eating disorder control my every day. And in celebration, I wanted to share 15 Things I wish I knew 15 years ago.

Recovery is a journey, not a destination. & even though this may be hard to hear for you, it gets harder before it gets better. Recovery is all about "choice". & choosing over & over again daily to fight the battle in your mind so that you can win the ultimate war!
There are no short cuts. No easy paths. No magic pills.
But, there is nothing worth more than your future to be completely FREE from disordered behaviors & thoughts controlling your life.

HAPPY NEW YEAR SWEET FRIEND!
Did you know, that 50% of new year resolutions don't stick after January?! (mind blown right! - nahhh lol)
Habits don't work. You get excited but then you do this ONE thing that leaves you stuck in the trap of food controlling your life....
YOU THINK!
That's right....The only reason I have a healthy relationship with food & my body is because I stopped giving my brain the power to make excuses. I stopped thinking & overthinking. What did I do instead? I just started DOING!
When you struggle with eating disorder behaviors, instead of adding on additional behaviors or "false promises" to your new year...what you really need is to stop thinking & start acting.
STOP believing that motivation will last.
Stop adding to your plate (no pun intended).
STOP expecting different results, while you continue to do the exact same things.
Yes, you need desire to recover & find peace with food & your body. But the most important step in the process is ACTION. In order to rewire your hijacked brain, you must create habit reversals by implementing small changes forward. These small but mighty actions & alterations will completely change your life & your future.
Stop making it easy to have an unhealthy relationship with food.
What can you STOP doing today? What can you let go of? Do the opposite of what your brain is "thinking". In order to get something different you have to DO something different.

Fad diets are pre-cursors to eating disorders. Yes, I said it!
Did you know that according to the National Eating Disorder Association, 35% of normal dieters progress to chronic dieters, & 25% of those individuals develop eating disorders?! Isn't this wild?!
The best known contributor to the development of disordered eating & full blown eating disorders is the cultural idealization of "thinness".
What is super troubling however, is that 95% of dieters will regain lost weight back (& then some) 1-5 years following their diet. But this doesn't stop the weight loss industry from pushing products & new diets down your face every new year! Roughly, 60 billion dollars are spent each year (& that is just Americans) on diet products and programs. STOP DOING THIS! Girl, Quit Dieting!
