You likely have a "body ideal" or vision of what you view to be the perfect body. But the sad news is, disordered patterns lead down distorted paths.
For me, I was never going to be a "perfect" weight. However, I did know that I wanted more for my future than a life slaved by controlling my food & body.
In today's episode, I discuss what a "freedom point" is, & the steps to find yours.
These steps today will walk you through an exercise that helps many of my recovery coaching clients experience a plan & feel more in alignment of what they can expect in terms of weight gain on the road to recovery.
Truth: You will not continue to gain weight when you start the road to recovery. It’s just not possible.
Remember sweet friend. your mind wants to keep you safe. But feelings & thoughts aren't FACTS!
Your body knows how to heal itself & I share all about what I call, the "thrive theory" in today's show.
Just as life changes, bodies change too!

It’s National Eating Disorder Awareness week! It’s time to share hope for recovery & it’s time to uplift & encourage all of you who may be battling this awful disease. In today’s episode I share all the facts, truths & stats surrounding disordered eating & the impact of eating disorders on our society. I also share a special free gift just for listening to today’s show & spreading the word by sharing this episode with a friend or loved one.
Researchers believe:
8 million Americans have an eating disorder – seven million women and one million men
One in 200 American women suffers from anorexia
Two to three in 100 American women suffers from bulimia
Nearly half of all Americans personally know someone with an eating disorder (Note: One in five Americans suffers from mental illnesses.
According to Johns Hopkins, NEDA, ANAD & others, eating disorders are on the rise since Covid & they have no gender, ethnic, or socioeconomic prerequisite across those who struggle.
it’s important that you know today that eating disorders aren’t a choice, behavior problem, or lack of willpower. An eating disorder is an illness with biological & genetic roots that are influenced by culture, belief & IMO unfortunately social media!
If you didn’t know already, eating disorders have the highest mortality rate than any other mental health illness?! But why aren’t they talked about more?! I share all of this and then some in episode 23!
& while these statistics may be hard to hear, today’s message is to give you hope & to celebrate with you as you embark in your recovery journey. sweet friend, your future looks so very bright, you just have to WANT to make a change ✨
Recovery is possible for you girl!

Today's episode is all about excessive exercise & exercise addiction. & while an addiction to exercise may not be a noted clinical addiction, researchers do believe that the impacts of excessive exercise on the body have just as many harmful affects as other restrictive behaviors for those who struggle with control around food & body image.
I discuss what exactly makes the very thing we view as "healthy" so very "unhealthy". I also share my story & struggle with exercise addiction & obsession with all the "cardio queen" shenanigans.
If you find yourself constantly exercising or finding ways to exert energy as a means or lever to manipulate caloric intake or manage your body weight unrealistically, then this episode is for you!
I touch on the intuitive principles that healed my unhealthy relationship with food & my body. & I share the impact that yoga had during my recovery from my eating disorder.
& while I may claim freedom from food currently controlling my life, I will forever owe a portion of my story to the practice of mindfulness & yoga. In fact, I continue to practice yoga in my every day routine because I truly believe that the intuitive practice gave me the permission I needed to experience peace & freedom, even during my hardest days of healing.

In today's episode I share the juicy topic of RELATIONSHIPS! With Valentine's day this week, I wanted to take the time to share with you 4 ways your relationship with food & your body affects your relationships + 3 steps to a loving future.
I fully believe that the relationship you have with food & your body is a direct reflection to life itself & is tied directly to the quality of the relationships you have with others.
If you find yourself constantly insolating, avoiding, arguing or feeling overwhelmed by those closest to you, then maybe just maybe you don't even realize the impact that your disordered eating has on those in your circle.
I'll share my past break up & the impact my anorexia had on my college relationship, plus the things I learned in the process of my recovery journey that helped guide my future & my marriage.

Happy Episode 20! I am pinching myself that I've already helped THOUSANDS of women across the planet with the Her Best Self podcast! It's only been a few short months ladies! In the month of love, it's important that you begin to unpack how you can better LOVE YOU! In doing so, maybe that means to accept right where you are! Maybe, that is embracing the fact that you don't feel like you have an eating disorder or unhealthy food relationship because you wouldn't classify yourself as "thin" or "sick enough". This lie is just another one that your mind is trying to get you to believe to stay trapped in negative thoughts & patterns leaving you stuck, alone & miserable.

- 75% of those with disorders don't seek help

It's MY BIRTHDAY!!!
Well, my birthday was January 20th lol, but it's my birthday month!
Who else loves birthday MONTHS? HAHA.
I didn't always enjoy celebrating myself. In fact, birthdays with an unhealthy food & body relationship controlling your life can be down right disastrous. They can be hard. I remember a many where I restricted food, avoided celebrations, and passed cake out to others only to avoid having a piece myself. In that hard season, I remember wanting so much peace.....wanting so much freedom. Yet, I was stuck.
As I turn 37 this year, I realize...it's be 15 YEARS since I stopped letting food & my eating disorder control my every day. And in celebration, I wanted to share 15 Things I wish I knew 15 years ago.
